Pieria TV
From the

Pieria TV has
started by chance after a friend and TV
mate in Langadas, living and woerking in a place 20 km
north of Thessaloniki, tried to extend his opportunities in
TV narrow casting in Katerini on early 1993 pos. around March .
Katerini is located 80
km SSW of
Thessaloniki
A history (1993)

From the
only left sticker !!! This was the monitor used in the channel, and then
was lost, it was given to someone for experiments who never retuned it back later.
I previously already had a
cooperation with this man for less than1 year in Langadas by
providing
him the necessary transmission equipment.
Eugene the head person of a local radio station and him (Miltos)Radio
Faros 92.3
MHz tested a 5 W transmitter in a new built building quite close to the radio
station inside the city. The results were totally disappointing. Given that all TV
systems use a pre-amplifier, the 5
W signal was quite enough to overload the home antenna preamplifiers
and causing a total wipe out in the UHF band The man was ready to stop
his tests and return to his main business, a local radio station.
ON the start we used a ready system linking on VHF I, but soon it was replaced it with a UHF link system The technician on the second link system was a friend and technician of the person from Langadas Later i heard that he died from cancer - after 2000-
Fortunately, for all, an older friend and solar systems' competitor located in the main street to Salonica offered us his facilities of his factory to install the relay system
The
system was run in the facilities of the bus routes building in the
opposite of the town. This relay link system had a visual distance of
around 2 KM
This was the area of Katerini. Signal diastance was around 25 km far .
The transmission point was near the blue point in the right above the circle

The TV channels offices consisted of two rooms of 25 sqm each , one of them separated by a
wooden wall. The front part of the room was used for the production,
while the rear part was the studio. It was used for both live and
recorded programming.
We commenced
programming on this narrow casting station on ca March 1993. The project stopped on October 1993 due to
less interest from the other part i.e. Eugene. A lawyer was also used to legislate the whole process but due to the stop his interest he was also withdrawn from the project, It should be also noted that 3 years before this project I have applied for a TV licence and was registered #5 in the ministry.
Our programming consisted with
- Relays from some sat TV programs on the start little later replaced with computer generated adverts, in iteration
- Movies in general
- News, by our journalist team
-
Interviews
or debates produced in our studios. Mrs Glykatzi Averler was our most important guest among the interviewees.
