...at Thessaloniki International Fair, Coverage Reaches 78%
At the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) put its digital transformation front and center, with DAB+ digital radio technology emerging as the standout highlight. ERT's pavilion offered visitors a hands-on look at DAB+ in action, drawing the attention of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who stopped by to learn more about the new technology.
According to information announced during the fair, ERT's DAB+ digital radio network now covers 78% of Greek territory, and all of ERT's radio stations have been integrated into the digital broadcasting system. DAB+ technology offers high-quality audio, stable mobile reception, and digital information transmission capabilities. Visitors to the pavilion could experience the technology firsthand inside modern vehicles equipped with DAB+ receivers, getting a direct feel for how digital radio operates.
Accompanied by ERT Chairman Yiannis Papadopoulos, Prime Minister Mitsotakis sat inside a demonstration vehicle to experience DAB+ in real time. Papadopoulos himself took the "driver's seat," walking the Prime Minister through the system's practical operation. The Prime Minister also asked whether the Third Programme (Trito Programma) had been included in digital broadcasting, and expressed satisfaction with ERT's digital progress in recent years.
In addition, ERT announced that it will offer users more digital news services through the ERTnews platform, further expanding the applications of DAB+.
