From a message of me posted on WOR :
Hello
For anyone interested to post and email audio files such as WOR emailit , radio stations and other uses , it is better
to upload the files into a virtual folder as Dropbox and Box or audio
sites as Soundcloud and drop here only the link
Sites alternative to dropbox
1. Sync.Com
2. PCLOUD
3. Google Drive
4. Microsoft One Drive
5. TRESORIT
6. BOX
7. SpiderOak
8. iDrive

A few similar to soundcloud :
- MixCloud. (www.mixcloud.com) ...
- MixCrate. (www.mixcrate.com) ...
- BandCamp. (www.bandcamp.com) ...
- YouTube. (www.youtube.com) ...
- Pandora. (www.pandora.com) ...
- iTunes. (www.apple.com/itunes) ...
- Apple Music. (www.apple.com/music )
Another alternative way is to use an audio compression program as
bonkenc. and compress them into wma or mp4 at 24 kbit that can
shrink the size into the 1/6th of the original 128kbit mp3 file keeping the same audio quality on HF bands. Also ideal for sending 10 minutes of audio via email. I also recommend you to first shrink the files and then store them also to any virtual folder
Recommended bit rates
For emailing AM audio
-Suggested compression bitrates : between 20 and 36
-Suggested formats: WMA 9.2 or MP4 or AAC (ths is the same format)
To my ears they sound the same with the original audio This is ideal for sending 10 minutes of audio via email for a size of only 3MB
For emailing FM audio
-suggested compression formats and bitrates :
WMA between 36 to 64 kbit
MP4 : below 44 kbit
Audio Compression programs :
- Bonkenc is still free.I used it 10 years ago . It is better to use an older and simpler version https://www.freac.org/ The newer version xx.15 is even faster .WMA standardizes conversion into 8/8 in the drop-down menu even if you change it manually. Auto mode works perfectly. Have not tested any other mode so far. There is also a multi file join feature.
- I use the excellent multi-thread Xrecode Supports more than 30 audio formats .8 files can be converted in parallel in a 4 core PC. Requires 10 Eu registration but its worth the money. There are many other features beyond my interest as meta info multiple converting tasks etc https://xrecode.com/
- Fileconverter https://file-converter.org/ with lots of formats
Online audio conversion sites
- Xconvert https://www.xconvert.com/audio-compressor
- Audio Compressor https://www.media.io/audio-compressor.html
I workk with file conversions for more 25 years and know that very well . It is better to listen to the experts as me!
Zach, these are excellent resources. Thank you. Curt Faulk N6ATC
